Haverstock Hill

Distance to ASL: 1.5 miles

Quality 3-bed rental = £3,800

Pro: About five to six minutes brisk walk to both Belsize Park and Chalk Farm Tube stations (Northern Line). Local amenities with several independent shops and eateries with 'village' feel. Belsize Park shops and amenities close by. Only ten minutes walk to very attractive Primrose Hill area. Good range of properties to rent.

Con: Northern Line can be notoriously crowded at peak hours.

Belsize Park

Distance to ASL: 1.5 miles

Quality 3-bed rental = £4,400

Pro: Plenty of amenities in attractive and vibrant high street with village feel. High number of independent shops but also quality chains. Tube station on Northern Line. Rental stock is varied and attractive. Relatively close to Hampstead and Highgate.

Con: Northern Line can be notoriously crowded at peak hours. Rental costs fairly high compared to other areas as sought after.

Belsize Village

Distance to ASL: 1.2 miles

Quality 3-bed rental = £4,400

Pro: Lovely area. Very quiet. Small village with a number of restaurants and independent shops. Community feel. Attractive and varied rental stock. Five or six minutes stroll to Belsize Park Tube station and the Northern Line. Similar distances to Finchley Road (Jubilee and Metropolitan Lines) and Swiss Cottage (Jubilee Line) Tube stations. .

Con: Like Belsize Park, rental costs fairly high as sought after.

Finchley Road

Distance to ASL: 1 mile

Quality 3-bed rental = £3,400

Pro: Rental values lower than other nearby areas. Finchley Road Tube station with access to two different lines (Jubilee and Metropolitan). Many local amenities on Finchley Road, including large Waitrose store.
Close....but not too close...to ASL (could be walked in twenty minutes). Somewhat more diverse than areas slightly further east. Swiss Cottage Tube station only a few minutes away on foot.

Con: The Finchley Road is a major 'Red Route' into central London. It dominates the areas and spoils any 'village' or community feel there might be. Subsequently local services tend to be mid-range chains, with some independent stores. Places to eat are of a lower quality than further east. Still low crime rates for London, but doesn't feel quite as safe as areas further east.

Swiss Cottage

Distance to ASL: 0.8 miles

Quality 3-bed rental = £3,500

Pro: close to ASL (approximately 15 minute walk). Jubilee Line at Swiss Cottage Station. Rental values similar (if a little higher) than Finchley Road. A range of local amenities on the Finchley Road running up to Finchley Road Tube station (just five minutes walk away). Within seven or eight minutes walk from all the amenities of Primrose Hill and just five minutes walk to South Hampstead mainline station.

Con: Not a particularly attractive area. Somewhat soulless with little community/village feel. Once again, the Finchley Road dominates and is a big negative, although roads running to the West quickly become quieter.
